Timeline
Patrick
gets into the centre of the room and introduces the
timeline.
He
stresses the fact that everything will be available through
the webjournal of this event which you will be able to
access through Moodle (PS404). Hence you should not worry
about taking notes or about the creations they’ll produce
during the day. As Patrick explains, the aim of the
timeline is to give a nice idea of how students want to get
to the end of the MSc dissertation process and toward their
future. This day is a chance to work and support each other
and yourself, and especially as regards students’
dissertation and future. The aim of the day is to enjoy
talking about the future.

Presentation
of the the timeline:
The
1st
deadline
is about how to find a supervisor, having some first
thoughts about what you want to do. Between January the
8th
and
February the 4th
is a
time to think and to explore. Everything is
possible.

March
and April is a time to start putting things together. After
April you have time to think about the literature and about
the background you need even if you’re not sure that you
can have access afterwards. It is nice to have a good idea
by March/April. Then, this is a time to ask all the
questions you have to your supervisor to get support for
the other phases of the project.

After
exams in May, the research part starts and the dissertation
should be in by the 18th
of
August. It is important to be in touch before the end of
summer term because there is not official supervision
afterwards. If you leave it until late you may be in
trouble to meet the final deadline. The end of the summer
term is also the last time you see each other, so make sure
you benefit from each other soon.

Today,
we are going to talk about what could help you to get there
nicely.
But first we would like you to make a Swarm together .
Vicky will explain.
