The first Spritivity workshop took place at
Jubilee School
in East London
on Thursday 29 March 2007.

The class was from year 5 (10 Year olds ). The class
teacher was Morag Scott.

The schedule was as follows:
9.45. –10 The workshop, and the
Spritivity Guide
is introduced to the class by Liu Yang from Zenzone Media
Lab, Beijing and Patrick Humphreys from the London
Multimedia Lab at the London School of Economics
10 – 10.40 The students in the class
take photos
in and around the school.
10.40-11.00 The students select the pictures that they want
to be printed on an Epson Picturemate printer located in
the classroom) and collect their prints as they are made.

11.00 – 12.10 The students draw and paint pictures of
sprites that they discover in the photos that they have
selected . They write a short description of each sprite,
following the instructions in the Spritivity guide.

12.10 - 12.40 The students introduce their sprite pictures
to the whole class (those who want to).
Lunch break
1.30 – 2.00 Liu Yang shows a Spritivity picture book made
by Chinese students to the whole class. (Michael describes
and translates the Chinese story text on each page in
English)
2.00 - 3.00 The students, working in 5 groups (each
comprising 5 or 6 students) exchange their photographs and
sprite pictures within the group and create

posters
showing the pictures, the sprite associated with each
picture together with a description written for each
sprite.
The children show their posters to the whole class (those
who want to).
The posters are photographed by Lu Yang in order to capture
the sprites electronically and to
publish the
posters
on this Spritivity website.
Last 15 minutes: Liu Yang and Patrick Humphreys discuss
with the students
