  Dr Audrey Forson

Dr Forson is a Lecturer at the University of Ghana Medical School and a Consultant Physician at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. Dr Forson has a special interest in respiratory medicine and holds an MSc in Respiratory Medicine from Imperial College, University of London. Her current research activities include a pilot prevalence study of asthma and atopy in school children: the study applies the ISAAC questionnaire to school children aged 11 to 16 years. Findings will instruct a larger epidemiological study. She is also conducting a hospital based study that tracks the symptoms and presentation of asthma in patients attending the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and developing an epidemiological project that explores the prevalence of chronic lung disease in urban versus rural communities. Dr Forson is a member of GLOFAL: Global View of Food Allergy (www.glofal.org). GLOFAL aims to build capacity for the diagnosis of food allergy and a study of the influence of microbial and helminth exposure on allergy and asthma prevalence. GLOFAL is a collaboration between the Department of Parasitology, Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, Ghana with centres in the Netherlands, Austria and the UK, and including doctors, nurses and scientists from other African and Asian centers.
