| The IFIP Working Group 8.3 Doctoral Consortium will be held on 28th June 2006, preceding the main CIDMDS2006 Conference, which will be held at the London School of Economics from 29th June – 1st July. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Location: Robinson Room Suite, Third Floor, Old Building
(LSE Building A), Houghton Street, London School of Economics. Consortium DetailsThe focus of the Doctoral Consortium is to provide an opportunity for Doctoral students making progress on their dissertation research to share and discuss their research with peers and faculty mentors. The Consortium will be held as a pre-conference activity on 28th June 2006. At the consortium students will give formal presentations of their current research. Subjects to be covered in the presentations include a statement of the problem and research question (s), literature review, theory development and models, research methodology, and preliminary findings. The consortium will consist of multiple concurrent sessions (with a relatively small number of students in each) addressing related topical areas or using common methodological approaches. Faculty members with expertise in the topical area or methodological approach will facilitate each session. The primary objective of the consortium is that students have an opportunity to share their research with future colleagues and receive feedback from the other students and from faculty outside the students' own universities. ParticipationParticipation in the Doctoral Consortium is open to Phd Students who have registered for the main CIDMDS Conference (Student registration) by May 15 2006 and also have submitted online a synopsis of their thesis research, and issues they would like to address in the consortium. This synopsis should be in the format of the presentation to be made at the Consortium. Providing these condition are met, participation in the Doctoral consortium is free of charge. Submission of synopses of thesis researchFrom January 1st, 2006 intending participants in the Doctoral Consortium will be able to upload their synopses of thesis research by clicking here. Each submission will be acknowledged by email when received, but confirmation of a place in the Doctoral Consortium will be sent as soon as student registration at the CIDMDS conference has also been confirmed. |
